THE (LONDON) COLLECTIVE...SHOPPING...EATING...LOOKING

I just got back from London. When I was there i liked it but i didn't love it, but now i'm home in cold Melbourne, I've realised I do LOVE London. There is so much going on...SHOPPING...I think London was probably the best, shopping wise. I especially loved the Dover Street Market (Comme des Garcons store). Each level is amazing with different designers creating there own space for their pieces. DSM stock the whole Comme des Garcons line (obviously), Lanvin, Kitsune, Monocole, Cutler and Gross, Azzedine Alaia, Ann Demeulemeester, Martin Margiela and that's just to name a few! My favourite piece was an Alaia dress. Even if you cant afford anything there it is just worth a look, especially at their amazing jewelery(17-18 Dover Street, London W1S 4LT, www.doverstreetmarket.com)...Liberty (of London) is an iconic London department store. They have best of everything. From tweezers to fabrics to (amazing) jewelery to bags to shoes to clothes. They stock Chloe, Diptyque, Acne, A.P.C, Vivienne Westwood, Josh Goot, YSL and about a million more. Their fabrics are stunning... www.liberty.co.uk. Shorditch/Hackney/Brick Lane was a bit disappointing for any sweet vinatge finds. The Shop at Bluebird was another good one! Stocking the diffusion labels such as Sonia by Sonia Rykiel along with Acne, A.P.C and See by Chloe +++ more...EATING... I'm not going to lie I did nearly eat somehting from Pret a Manger evryday in London, looking back I dont know why! I also really liked Leon. Both of these places are chains- Pret is sandwiches and Leon is meatballs, rice and salads etc. Both healthy and pretty cheap. You can't really get good sushi anywhere in London which was a real let down...LOOKING...The Tate Modern is aamzing I saw (Danish artist) Per Kirkeby and the Futurism exhibitions. I don't really like cubism so much but absolutely loved Per Kirkeby. The exhibition was basically his life's work till present, and it was amazing to see his work progress. I highly recommend. The free part of the Tate was fantastic as well (famous works by Andy Warhol etc)... www.tate.org.uk/modern/ http://www.albrightknox.org/acquisitions/acq_2000/artworks/1999_13.jpg
