Our dear friend Lou, has the Chloe ‘Paraty’ bag in black calfskin. This bag is quite beautiful with its horse shoe-esque detail, and it is oh so typical of the French house’s craftsmanship. It has a cross body strap and is available in calfskin, python and suede in a variety of soft shades, the only other place we’ve seen it (besides on Lou’s arm) is David Jones. Lou got hers from the Chloe store on Avenue Montaigne, Paris she tells us as gift from her mother. So we were sent into dismay when we saw a fake ‘Paraty’ bag being shamelessly toted in the city. Not only was this bag so evidently fake with its mustard posing as tan coloring - it was also pleather! How dumb do these people think we are or do they just not care? Our guess is the latter. Sure, it’s one thing if you cant afford the real thing but at least if you’re going to try and fool the general public buy a good fake ($300+), instead of buying a pathetic knock off.
We haven’t had the heart to tell Lou yet. The beauty of her bag is that no one in Melbourne has it. It hasn’t suffered the same fate that say the Chloe 'Paddington' bag did of over exposure, and there being so many fakes that you didn’t even want to use your real one. Well fingers crossed it doesn’t! Chloe’s 2010 accessories collection is amazing – we’ll have one of each please!
