BIG SMOKE LIVING, BIG TOLL ON SKIN AND HAIR...

LIVING in a big city like New York or London takes its toll on your skin and your hair. Your skin breaks out more frequently and your hair needs to be washed more. Especially when it's muggy and raining. New York City accounts for only 1% of United States greenhouse gas emissions while housing 2.7% of its population. But the fumes from all the buses/cars/taxis/garbage takes its toll.

WE exfoliate at least three times a week, using Clarins One-Step Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser with Orange Extract, $35. (www.clarins.com)

AND cleanse twice-daily using Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser, $20. (when exfoliating we like to exfoliate first then use our daily cleanser)(www.kiehls.com)

WE ALSO USE a Glycolic Acid anti-aging cream from Dermatoligist's Choice, $50. Using the amount of a 5c coin we apply this three times a week over our moisturizer at night. This cream stings for around 10-15 seconds on application and in the morning your face looks like it has received a mild shot of Botox. Be sure to wear SPF the following day as this cream basically eats your dead skin off. (www.shop.dermchoice.com/main)
WHEN it comes to our hair, it needs to be washed every second day as opposed to every third or forth in Melbourne. We use Aesop Colour Protection Cleanser and Conditioner $27 each. We both have balayage at the moment as a result of having aqua and pink ends, so our hair is dryer and New York's harsh water does not help. (www.aesop.com)
